There are always twists and turns to the top of the table battles across Europe, no more so than in the Premier League.
Looking back at the last decade of top flight football in England, you can find instances of teams taking advantage of opportunities to then go on and either win the league, or to make the top four UEFA Champions League spots.
One look at the Premier League table heading into Sunday shows a few instances of that. Liverpool watched yesterday as Manchester City took over the top spot with a 1-0 win over Tottenham. The Reds have what looks to be a straight forward contest away to 18th place Cardiff City.
But the Bluebirds are fighting for their Premier League lives; can they spring an upset to turn the championship race on its head?
Arsenal can take advantage of hated-rival Tottenham’s loss Saturday with a win over Crystal Palace. A win for the Gunners would see them move up into third place. Palace has been decent on the road, and drew 2-2 with Arsenal in October.
In France, Neymar is back for PSG, and the team can win the title at home. Expect a five-star performance.
Borussia Dortmund needs to stay within one point of Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga table, and has a road contest against a Freiburg team it has not lost to in 17 matches.
PSV Eindhoven has a chance to stay even on points with Ajax in Holland, and Benfica can shake off a controversial exit in the UEFA Europa League midweek and go back to the top of the table in Portugal with a home win over Maritimo. Benfica is 6-1-1 since May 2016 against Maritimo.
PSV beat ADO Den Haag 7-0 in September, and has not lost to it in 20 games.
