To help you make the best Underdog picks, we dug into the stats, form, and opponent context to break down 4 picks we feel confident about heading into puck drop.

Of course, there are plenty more, but these are the best of the best based on the matchups.

Sebastian Aho — Higher Than 0.5 Goals

  • Pick ‘em Payout: 1.17x

Sebastian Aho hasn’t been lighting it up on the score sheet lately, but this spot against Nashville sets up nicely for a breakout game. He’s gone 5 games with just 2 goals, which might scare some off, but Aho’s track record against the Predators tells a different story — 2 goals in his last 2 matchups with them.

Carolina of course is heavily favored at home, and Aho typically logs 20+ minutes in wins, often with top-line power-play usage. In fact, in their last win against Anaheim, he racked up 20:39 TOI.

To top things off, Nashville is giving up 3.26 GA/G, one of the worst in the NHL, and they’ve had trouble with skilled centers like Aho who can burn them off the rush or even in tight. His finishing talent paired with a high-volume opportunity makes this a great bounce-back goal spot and one of the best Underdog picks of the night.

Anthony Stolarz — Higher Than 23.5 Saves

  • Pick ‘em Payout: 1.25x

Stolarz is in a sneaky good spot to rack up saves tonight against the Flyers.

Philly has been shooting a ton lately, averaging upwards of 30 shots per game in their last 10. Even in wins, they’re not shy about peppering the net with the puck, especially early in the games. Stolarz has cleared this number in 2 of his last 3 starts, including a 27-save outing at Madison Square Garden against the Rangers, which is not an easy task.

He’s also projected to start in net for Toronto, who are on the second leg of a back-to-back — meaning he could see more rubber than usual if the Leafs come out a little flat defensively.

Given that the Flyers have a tendency to test goalies early and often, and with Stolarz playing solid hockey with a .918 SV% on the season, we expect him to face volume and respond equally as well.

Tage Thompson — Lower Than 0.5 Points

  • Pick ‘em Payout: 1.16x

It’s been a quiet stretch for Tage Thompson, and the matchup with Ottawa doesn’t inspire too much confidence in a turnaround tonight. We just don’t see him getting on the scoreboard.

Thompson has failed to record a point in 3 of his last 4 games, and while he’s undoubtedly generating shots with 3+ in each of those games, the finishing and playmaking around him haven’t translated to the box score. In fact, for the entire month of March, he only has 9 points altogether. Maybe it’s a slump? Maybe it’s his line? Either way, he’s not being effective.

Ottawa has quietly been strong defensively against opposing centers — just 1 point per game allowed to them over the past 3 matchups — and on top of that, their PK has improved as well despite being in the middle of the pack for most of the season.

Thompson’s on-ice impact hasn’t exactly translated into production lately, and Buffalo’s lack of depth scoring makes this under feel like a solid pick.

Nikita Kucherov — Higher Than 0.5 Power Play Points

  • Pick ‘em Payout: 1.18x

This is one of our favorite high-upside props on the board and when you break it down, it’s easy to see why.

Kucherov is a power-play wizard. Tonight’s matchup against the Penguins gives him a great shot to add to his already-loaded resume. He’s recorded a power play point in 3 of his last 4 games, and he’s also torched Pittsburgh historically — 3 points in 2 games this season, including multiple PPGs. It’s no wonder that he’s 3rd in the NHL for overall points.

The Penguins’ penalty kill has looked extremely vulnerable lately, ranking in the bottom 3rd of the NHL over the past 10 games and not doing enough to improve.

Tampa’s power play ranks top 5 at 25.8, and Kucherov quarterbacks nearly every opportunity.

You’re getting a solid multiplier on something he’s been consistently producing all season long, and that’s always worth targeting.

Bonus Pick: Sebastian Aho — Lower Than 2.5 Shots

  • Pick ‘em Payout: 0.92x

If you’re building a pick'em with more risk/reward upside, you might want to consider doubling down on Aho — not for a multi-goal explosion, but for goal efficiency. We don’t always like to pick multipliers under 1.0, but for him, we’re making an exception.

He’s gone under 2.5 shots in 3 of his last 5, and Carolina spreads the puck around enough that he doesn’t always rack up the volume. If you're playing both props, you’re betting on him being highly selective and efficient, which isn't a bad combo based on his recent trends.

Load ‘Em Up at Underdog with These Picks

Tonight’s NHL slate has a good mix of star power and sneaky matchups, which is perfect for finding edges on Underdog Fantasy.

Aho and Kucherov, both household names, are in great spots to produce, while Thompson feels a bit overpriced given his lack of output over the past few weeks. And if Stolarz gets the nod, which he should, he’s a strong save-volume target in a high-shot environment.

Lock in your picks, mix up your payouts for smart variance, and let the ice do the talking as these are the best Underdogs picks for the night.
