King of the niche sports, DraftKings becomes official sports betting partner of the Drone Racing League

Racing is Saturday at 4:30 pm EST.

If you are like me, and you watch a lot of Premier League action on NBCSN, you will have left your television on after the postgame show and looked up to see the Drone Racing League on your screen.

And if you are here on this site, of course, you must have thought about betting on the aerial action. Imagine, being able to place bets on drones racing through the sky.

Well guess what? If that was ever you, now you can wager on the newest market on the DraftKings app, after the company partnered with the DRL. Betting markets will be live in Colorado, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, and West Virginia Saturday, with more states coming soon.

Starting this weekend, DraftKings will have pre-match and live in-race betting available on the 2020 DRL Allianz World Championship season, and DraftKings/DRL will have live events starting Friday night on Twitter to promote the new partnership. Saturday at 4:30 p.m. EST, the racing will commence, with coverage on NBC, Facebook, and Twitter all weekend.

“The sky is now the limit for DRL fans to get skin in the game, and we’re thrilled to partner with DraftKings to transform our high-speed race competition into the ultimate sport to bet on,” DRL President Rachel Jacobson said. “The opportunity for us to elevate our engagement through all forms of gaming and gambling will only increase as mobile betting becomes more adopted across the country."

DraftKings Chief Business Officer Ezra Kucharz is happy to have the company partnered with the DRL, to add to an ever-increasing stable of alternative sports on the app that have been gaining in popularity over the last year. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit late last winter and into the spring, just before Major League Baseball was due to start, and right before the NBA and NHL playoffs, it was the niche sports and leagues that got bettors and sports books through the tough times: sports like darts and soccer in Belarus and Nicaragua. The DRL joins other sports on the DraftKings sites such as cycling, floorball, handball, and volleyball, to name just a few.

“DRL is scaling their business as fast as their drone races, and we’re excited to be flying with them given DRL’s thrilling, innovative racing events are perfect for the customized wagering offerings we can create,” Kucharz said. “Our expertise in sports betting combined with DRL’s stats-packed competition will make this a fun and seamless opportunity to engage their avid audience along with tech-savvy, adrenaline-loving sports fans.”

So check in with DraftKings to place your bets.
