New York Liberty at Chicago Sky, 12 pm Eastern
The Pick: New York +9 (-112), bet $7.50 to win $6.75
Lemme get this straight: On Wednesday, New York beats Chicago by seven in Game One of this series, completely taking away home-court advantage and forcing a possible elimination game, and I can get one more point than I got then? Uh, okay. Yeah, I’ll take that. The Liberty almost dropped a century-note on the Sky, shot 44% from three-point land, gets another point tacked onto the spread? Uh, okay. New York now has zero pressure on them. This is house money, even if they lose the series. They’ll play loose and easy today, while Chicago will be feeling the heat. The Liberty already felt like they could play with the defending champs. Now they know they can.
Phoenix Mercury at Las Vegas Aces, 9 pm Eastern
The Pick: Phoenix +17 (-115), bet $7.50 to win $6.53
I mean, come on. This spread would’ve been too high even without the fact the Mercury almost covered on Wednesday. Again, Phoenix is a mess, to be sure. And on Wednesday they lost Shey Peddy to non-contact injury. But I think there’s at least a little addition by subtraction going on here (I’m not talking about Peddy), and I do think that even though they know the series, and their season, are over, the players left over on the Mercury squad will give it their all. Las Vegas knows they have this in the bag, and they’ll put it on cruise tonight.
