Seattle Storm at Indiana Fever, 7 pm Eastern
The Pick: Indiana +10.5 (-108), bet $7.50 to win $6.94
Just too many points to lay for a Seattle team that, for its improvement over the past month or so, is still only 2-6 against the spread on the road. Indiana is only 2-8 in its last ten games and has dropped four straight, but they lost by 16 to the Storm four days ago and I think they will improve on that performance. That game was in Seattle and the spread was 13. The Fever play harder and better at home, and the aging Storm will be looking forward to the All-Star Break this weekend.
Connecticut Sun at Dallas Wings, 8 pm Eastern
The Pick: Dallas +5.5 (-110), bet $8.24 to win $7.50; Dallas +180, bet $2.50 to win $4.50
Don’t give me that look. This is Connecticut’s last game before the All-Star Break, and Sun stars Jonquel Jones and Brionna Jones will have their minds a little distracted by that. You might say Dallas Wing Arike Ogunbowale, who’s also an All-Star, might be distracted, but I say she’ll be determined to prove she belongs in that group. Don’t give me that look. The Wings are getting 5.5 points at home, and they’re 11-9-1 against the spread this season while the Sun are only 10-11. Dallas plays good teams well and bad teams poorly, and Connecticut is a good team. The Sun have the size down low but Ogunbowale and the Dallas guards will have big scoring nights. I like a tight game for two teams going into the break.
