Bet Friday NHL: Peterson picks Washington Capitals vs New Jersey Devils, St. Louis Blues vs Colorado Avalanche

Washington Capitals (-175) @ New Jersey Devils (+140), 7 pm EDT; St. Louis Blues (+195) @ Colorado Avalanche (-227), 9 pm EDT

The New Jersey Devils are playing pretty good hockey right now. Despite being 5-5 in their last 10 games, they have stolen games from both Boston & Pittsburgh recently. On Friday, the Capitals will try to tame a tough Devils squad that has been performing well lately. With that said, the Caps are a different breed. They're explosive, relentless, and play with a purpose.

The Capitals are No. 1 in the East right now and hold a 23-8-4 record. Following a 5-2 defeat to the New York Rangers Tuesday night, expect the Capitals to come into this game hungry and determined to get back on track in a big way. Washington has defeated New Jersey on three different occasions in March, outscoring them 13-7. Although it's a bit steep at -175, look to the Capitals Moneyline here as they have proven time and time again this season that they know how to defeat the Devils.

PICK: Washington Capitals Moneyline (-175)

St. Louis Blues (+195) @ Colorado Avalanche (-227), 9 pm EDT

One team that I can't say enough about right now is the Colorado Avalanche. They're perhaps the scariest team in the NHL across the board, and they continue to dominate quality opposition with no signs of slowing down. After defeating a tough Arizona Coyotes club by a landslide Wednesday night, 9-3, the Avalanche are an impressive 8-2 in their last 10 games and are averaging a ridiculous 5.3 goals per game while only allowing 2.1.

The St. Louis Blues, on the other hand, are 2-8 in their last 10 and are averaging 1.9 goals per game while allowing 3.4. The Blues have now lost 4 in a row and have their hands full with the hottest team in the NHL Friday night. Although the Avalanche should bring the best out of the Blues in this one, it likely won't be nearly enough to steal a game from the surging Avs. Reach deep in your pockets and throw some money on the Colorado Puck Line here.

PICK: Colorado Avalanche -1.5 (+110)
