The Skinny
Tonight we are going for the sweeps! If you asked anyone a week ago who would be sweeping who, our money would be on people betting that the Lightning would be up on the Jackets and the Penguins would be up on the Islanders. Playoff hockey is funny in that regard. The regular season and the playoffs are two completely different animals and this is extremely relevant in a lot of the series this year. The Lightning simply look lost. This entire series they, aside from the first period of game 1, they just can’t seem to string anything together. F Nikita Kucherov, likely Hart Trophy winner, has been a non-factor in the two games he played, D Victor Hedman was out with injury last game and looks to be out again. It’s not looking to bright for the President’s Trophy winning Lightning on the road in Columbus tonight. . . . The same sentiments can be made for the Penguins. F Sidney Crosby and F Phil Kessel have been invisible on the ice. Those are the guys that need to contribute and for some reason they are being stonewalled by G Robin Lehner of the Islanders. IT truly is an enigma how we’ve gotten here but we think its safe to bet on two sweeps tonight. Only time will tell!
