NHL Wednesday: Maple Leafs, Bruins are ready to roll

Flyers, Rangers at their mercy

MAPLE LEAFS (-150) at FLYERS (+130), 7 p.m.
Pick: Over (7)

F John Tavares just put up four goals for the Maple Leafs (45-25-6) in their last tilt against the Panthers. Lucky he did too because the Leafs have been struggling mightily on defense recently. Their goaltending just hasn’t been able to break out of its slump either. Tonight they will try to storm Wells Fargo Center and take down the Flyers (36-32-8), crushing whatever playoff hopes they have left. However, we aren’t going to focus on who will win this game or who will lose.

Last time these two teams met, it was a all offense with 13 combined goals, the Over was crushed. The Leafs won 7-6 but the Flyers showed they could play up to some pretty stiff competition. Toronto has been consistently scoring a good amount of goals night in and night out and their defense is shoddy enough to make us feel very comfortable with the Flyers chipping in a few of their own tonight making this Over too tempting to ignore.

RANGERS (+290) at BRUINS (-350), 7:30 p.m.
Pick: Bruins (-350)
Pick: Bruins -1.5 (-125)

We would really hate to be the Rangers tonight. Despite losing to the Lightning on Monday night 5-4 (but outplaying them in every other aspect of the game), the Bruins (46-21-9) have been one of the best teams in the league in the past few months. They have had separate winning streaks of seven, six and four games since early February and have been decimating teams in their wake, out-scoring teams 23-10 over their last five games.

It was easy to see early that the Rangers (29-33-13) just didn’t have it this season. They managed to squeeze past out the Maple Leafs, 2-1, the other night but we knew taking that was risky. Tonight we have the utmost faith in the Bruins to get the job done and get it done with goals to spare.
