NHL Thursday: Sharks-Pens top a Busy Night

Also: Senators-Devils, Wild-Rangers, Flyers-Canadiens

SHARKS (-105) at PENGUINS (-115), 7 p.m.
Pick: Over 7

The Sharks (35-17-8) have been playing some of their best hockey recently, having gone 7-1-1 in their last nine. They are third in the league in goals scored (219), just ahead of the Penguins (210). F Joe Thornton is playing on the third line, so you know San Jose has some depth. F Evander Kane’s speed, F Joe Pavelski’s deadly net front presence and two Norris Trophy caliber defensemen -- Erik Karlsson and Brent Burns -- make this team dangerous from every angle.

Pittsburgh (32-21-7) also has been getting contributions from all throughout their roster as well. Their Big 3 of forwards Sydney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Phil Kessel, haven’t had to do all of the heavy lifting as of late either, especially against the Devils on Tuesday, when all of their scoring came from their depth players. Both of these teams have a lot of fire power to work with. Make it worth your while.

SENATORS (+110) at DEVILS (-130), 7 p.m.
Pick: Devils To Win (-130)
Pick: Over 6.5

This game could be a dumpster fire. The league’s two worst teams are coming together for a brawl to decide who exactly is worse. These two teams have gone 1-1 in the season series, both winning at home. Both of those games crushed the Over as well, look for something similar here.

The Devils (23-29-8) have been playing much better as of late, although they don’t have a lot of Ws to show for it. F Marcus Johansson has come alive and can’t seem to be stopped.

The Senators (22-32-5) have announced that C Matt Duchene will be sitting out Thursday, which could make things a lot easier for the Devils. He has been a hot topic of trade speculation and Ottawa wants to keep him healthy so his trade value doesn’t diminish. Look for another high-scoring night; Devils have been Over in eight of their last 12.

WILD (-105) at RANGERS (-115), 7 p.m.
Pick: Wild To Win (-105)

Minnesota (27-27-6) is 1-6-3 on the heels of a three-game winning streak. They let the Blues and the Stars leapfrog them in the standings and with each passing day their playoff appearance streak of six years is more and more in jeopardy. Lucky for them the West is a nightmare with a majority of the teams underperforming, leaving the two wild-card spots up for grabs. They have to get back in the winning column at some point, why not here?

The Rangers (26-25-8) are a perfect team to feast on. They have nothing to play for as their playoff hopes are toast. The front office is in sell mode and are actively shopping forwards Kevin Hayes, Mats Zuccarello and even Chris Kreider.

FLYERS (+135) at CANADIENS (-155), 7:30 p.m.
Pick: None

F Max Domi has come alive for Montreal (32-21-7) this season and has hit the 20-goal mark for the first time in his career. The Canadiens hold the first wild-card spot and are going to be a formidable opponent for any team down the stretch. They topped Columbus Tuesday to snap a four-game losing streak.

The Flyers (28-25-7) were sent packing by the Lightning on Tuesday, just their second regulation loss since Jan. 13. They dug themselves such a huge hole early in the season and have climbed back to within six points of a playoff spot, but they have very little room for error.

This one is too tough to call, especially on a night where there is plenty of other action.
