Did anybody else notice that before torching the Bruins for a natural hat trick on Jan. 16, Sean Couturier had managed just one goal in 21 career games against them. In fact, that lone previous tally had come four seasons earlier and ended a 10-game goalless streak versus Boston . . . and preceded another one.
Despite that three-goal output -- the only hat trick allowed by the Bruins this season -- Couts has now gone three consecutive games since then without rippling the net.
The Flyers had scored 26 goals in the seven games preceding their 1-0 escape Tuesday in New York against the Rangers, but they are going to need to get back on the offensive horse. Couturier needs to be one of those to saddle up.
