NHL: Tuesday picks for the Flyers, Islanders, Devils and Penguins

Flyers (15-21-6) +165 @ Capitals (25-12-4) -200 7:30 pm; Hurricanes (19-17-5) +110 @ Islanders (23-13-4) -130 7 pm; Devils (16-18-7) +110 @ Sabres (22-14-6) -135 7 pm; plus more

Hurricanes (19-17-5) +110 @ Islanders (23-13-4) -130 7 pm
Pick: Islanders money line
Pick: Over 6 +110

The Hurricanes and the Islanders will clash tonight in a Metropolitan Division match-up where someone’s winning streak will be broken. New York is hotter than anything riding a six-game winning streak while Carolina is playing some great hockey as well and is currently on a four-game winning streak. Ever since the Canes got shut out by the Devils on 12/29, they’ve been putting up goals as if they were a top tier team.

The Islanders have also been scoring in bunches as of late, in fact, they haven’t scored less than 3 goals in a game since 12/20 against the Golden Knights. Since these two teams have been offensive dynamos the past few weeks, we think the over is a great bet.

As far as who will come out on top, the Islanders have been getting contributions from throughout the lineup. We think they take this one and snap the Hurricane’s win streak.

Devils (16-18-7) +110 @ Sabres (22-14-6) -135 7 pm
Pick: Sabres money line -135

New Jersey makes their way to Buffalo for a tilt against a Sabres team that has exceeded expectations. The Devils will also get their first look at 2018 First Overall Pick D Rasmus Dahlin who, along with additions like G Carter Hutton and F Jeff Skinner have revitalized the Sabres organization. Skinner alone can sink a team with his goal scoring prowess (28 in 42 games played). (If you’re interested in a prop bet, we think that its almost certain he scores against the Devils).

The Sabres have slowed down lately but we think they will be able to figure out G Keith Kinkaid pretty quickly and start filling the back of the net. The Devils defense is thin, D Andy Greene has seen better days and Ben Lovejoy has been atrocious at 5-on-5. Look for the Sabres to exploit these weaknesses and come out on top.

Panthers (17-16-7) +160 @ Penguins (23-13-6) -190 7 pm
Pick: Penguins money line -190

On Sunday, the Penguins dropped their first game in 9 contests to the struggling Blackhawks, a matchup we thought would be a piece of cake for them. Today they play another struggling club in the Florida Panthers. Florida has been playing well recently and holds a record of 6-3-1 in their last 10 but have dropped the last two. Look for Pittsburgh to be peeved coming out of their loss and to steamroll the Panthers. We love the Penguins in this one.

Flyers (15-21-6) +165 @ Capitals (25-12-4) -200 7:30 pm
Pick: Capitals money line -200

Another no brainer pick for today. Philadelphia got embarrassed on home ice against the Blues last night who simply outworked and out hustled them (we had them on the money line). Now they head to D.C. on the second half of a back-to-back to play the defending Stanley Cup Champions. To say this will not end well for them is an understatement.

The Caps haven’t been playing their best hockey recently dropping games to Dallas, St. Louis, Nashville and the Penguins but we think they can really take it home to the Flyers who just can’t seem to get it together. Washington's goal differential of +23 compared to Philly’s -35 is cause in its own right to take the defending champs. If you’re feeling extra lucky, consider sprinkling some extra cash on the puck line as well. We just don’t think Philly stands a chance in this one.

Rangers (17-17-7) +210 @ Golden Knights -250 (26-15-4) 10 pm
Pick: None

The Rangers head to Las Vegas to take on the Golden Knights who have won their last six games. New York on the other hand has dropped their last three. Vegas almost lost to New Jersey on Sunday but rallied to overcome a two-goal deficit. Like we’ve written previously, the Golden Knights haven’t played the stiffest of competition and have mostly won by narrow margins throughout this six game stretch.

The Rangers on the other hand are due for a win but who knows if that will come at the hands of the Golden Knights. It could but this one is just too close to call, plus there are a plethora of other safer bets to make tonight so we think you might want to stay away from this one.
