The Houston Texans are led by one of the top defenses in the league and winners of their last nine games, roll into Pittsburgh as one of the hottest teams in football. Tomlin against Ryans.
Stroud against Rodgers. Plenty of storylines in this Wild Card matchup, but keep both top receivers, Ken Gainwell and Nico Collins, on your betting slip as they will both make positive impacts.
Houston’s defense has been incredible this season under Demico Ryans, and through Pittsburgh is coming off an extreme high after the Tyler Loop miss. I’m taking Houston to head into Pittsburgh and defeat the terrible towels.
Stroud has all of his playmakers back and healthy, and after a nine-game win streak to finish the year, there is too much consistency surrounding this Houston team for Pittsburgh to roll them over or at least run away with this game early on. Over the last two postseasons, Houston won both of their Wild Card matchups.
One of the top stories for the Steelers this season has been Kenneth Gainwell. They brought the 2nd string RB in from Philadelphia, and about mid-season, the duo of him and Jaylen Warren turned into a well-oiled machine.
Since Week 11 against the Bengals, Gainwell has hit this prop in 5 of 8 matchups while turning into Aaron Rodgers go-to target in virtually every down and distance.
Even with DK returning, I could see Arthur Smith drawing up extra pass plays for Gainwell, who is simply incredible in 1v1 situations in open space.
Collins is by far Stroud’s favorite target, finishing the year with over 1,100 yards and 71 catches. Though Nico finished the season with four straight games under five catches, it is the postseason, and Stroud’s consistency should shine in this game in Pittsburgh.
Last postseason, Collins went for 5 and 7 catches in the Divisional and Wild Card games, respectively, while in total he’s gone 4/4 in the playoffs with this prop’s ‘over’. He’s the guy for the Texans and on the bet slip.
