Chargers vs Chiefs 3 Player Props and Best Bet for Sunday, December 14
Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert will once again do battle in an AFC West rivalry on Sunday.

After being so dominant for much of head coach Andy Reid’s tenure, the Kansas City Chiefs (6-7) are struggling in 2025. Their schedule isn’t easing heading into final weeks of the season as the Los Angeles Chargers (9-4) head to Arrowhead for an AFC West matchup.

The Chiefs have lost four of their past five games, claiming only a win over the Indianapolis Colts since November 2nd. Kansas City’s slate featured several potential playoff teams during that run, including the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos.

Los Angeles is trending in the opposite direction. The Chargers have won five of their past six games, including Monday’s overtime thriller against the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, the team will have a short week to prepare for the Chiefs ahead of this pivotal matchup.

Can Kansas City even its record with a win on Sunday? We’ll cover that and provide bettors with our top three player props for this game.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes OVER 236.5 Passing Yards

If the Chiefs were winning, there’s little doubt that Patrick Mahomes wouldn’t be in the MVP conversation. The quarterback is third in the league with 3,398 passing yards. He’s completed 63.1 percent of his passes, throwing 22 touchdowns and 10 interceptions thus far.

He’s also having a career-year running the football. After having never surpassed the 400-yard mark, Mahomes currently sits at 407 rushing yards with four more contests to play.

The Chargers have surrendered 34 rushing yards to quarterbacks during their past eight games, making Mahomes a bad choice to cover his rushing prop on Sunday. But Los Angeles has yielded at 240 or more passing yards four times this season, including to Mahomes in an earlier matchup. Take the veteran signal-caller to cover his passing prop total this week.

Los Angeles Chargers WR Ladd McConkey OVER 42.5 Receiving Yards

Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey has struggled with nagging injuries this season. Still, he leads the team with 695 yards on 59 receptions, scoring five times for Los Angeles thus far.

The Eagles shut down McConkey on Monday Night, holding him to one catch for 12 yards. Kansas City’s pass defense isn’t nearly as strong, and bettors should expect him to finish with at least 43 receiving yards in Sunday’s matchup.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt To Score A Touchdown (+110)

Heading into the 2025 season, running back Kareem Hunt was squarely considered the backup for Kansas City. The 30-year-old veteran’s role changed due to injuries this season, and he’s leading the Chiefs with 545 rushing yards on 142 carries.

What’s more impressive – and considered routine – is his eight rushing touchdowns. That’s tied for seventh in the league this year, but it’s a role that the tough-nosed runner has filled for the team in the past. Despite Los Angeles’ stout rush defense, take Hunt to punch in another touchdown for the Chiefs on Sunday to cover this player prop bet.

Best Bet: Kansas City (-5.5)

In typical seasons, the winner of a Monday Night Football game struggles the following week. Throughout the past decade, the winner of this primetime showcase has been under .500 the following week due to a shortened preparation period.

That hasn’t been the case in 2025. Through 16 games, the winner of the previous MNF game is 8-8 and has a three-game winning streak. Oddsmakers also believe that the Chargers are the decided underdog this week, spotting the Chiefs a near-touchdown advantage.

Los Angeles looked like it lifted the weight of the world off its shoulders on Monday Night with that overtime win over the Eagles. It was only the second team with a winning record the Chargers have defeated in 2025. That’s why Sunday’s matchup may be a dud. Take the Chiefs to cover the spread.
