It’s conference championship weekend in the NCAA, and we couldn’t be happier to watch the games go down! There’s so much on the line for each one of these teams, including berths to the elusive 12-team College Football Playoff field.
We’ve got you covered with our favorite player props from many of these contests, hoping to hit it big on some of the biggest games of the season. The Big 10 Championship is between Indiana and Ohio State, the No. 1 and 2-ranked teams in the country, respectively.
Indiana is undefeated coming into this matchup, rightfully earning their place as the No. 1 team in the nation, but considering Ohio State is the defending champs, they’ll have their work cut out for them. The Buckeyes are 4-point favorites here, but it’s anyone’s ballgame. Let’s get into our top props!
Julian Sayin and Fernando Mendoza are the two favorites for the Heisman Trophy at the moment, but we’re not so sure Sayin is going to have much success in this matchup.
He’s only taken on three opponents this season, and hasn’t gone over 236 passing yards in any of them. We think the Buckeyes could move the ball in this game, but not enough for us to be confident in Sayin to put up big numbers.
It might seem counterintuitive, but we actually like Jeremiah Smith to go over his receiving yardage totals even if Sayin doesn’t hit his passing yardage. Smith is still the top dog in this offense from a pass-catching perspective, and he should see the lion’s share of the targets throughout.
Smith has had a few dud weeks in a row, but with the ceiling to have 100+ yard games, it’s hard to bet against him when the lights are shining the brightest.
As we mentioned, the Heisman Trophy race is tight between Mendoza and Sayin, and a win in this game could do a lot for either player’s case to win the coveted award.
Mendoza has come out of the woodwork, in a lot of ways, as nobody expected Indiana to be this good this year. He had an impressive 267-yard performance against Illinois earlier in the year, and also had 215 against Oregon.
He has proven an ability to get it done against some of the best teams in the nation, so we’re riding with him in the most important game of the year.
