NFL fans might look back at Week 8 with disdain. Nearly every game this week has been a double-digit blowout, as good teams put their foot on the gas, leaving their opponents in the dust. While some might be looking to Monday Night Football to solve those woes, oddsmakers indicate that this could be another blowout. The Kansas City Chiefs are 14.5-point favorites over the Washington Commanders tonight, as Jayden Daniels is out and the Commanders’ spirits are low.
We’re not hanging our heads about this one, though, and we’re more than excited to talk about our favorite Underdog player props, hoping to hit it big and make this game more exciting. Let’s get into our top picks!
Underdog and other sportsbooks keep sleeping on Travis Kelce, so we’ll buy the dip as long as they’ll give it to us. Kelce has put up 43+ yards in all but two games this season, putting some vintage performances together to help Patrick Mahomes stay on track. Rashee Rice is back in the fold, which eats into his overall target share, but there’s no reason to believe that Kelce won’t get his, especially against a depleted defense. Look for Kelce and Mahomes to connect early and often, easily hitting the over in this one.
If you don’t believe in magic, watch a Chiefs game and let us know if your opinion has changed. Patrick Mahomes has brought out his magic wand again this year and has been dominant through the air and on the ground. He’s had 24+ rushing yards in five games this season, and is only 21 yards behind Isiah Pacheco as the team’s leading rusher. Mahomes isn’t afraid to take off on the run, and in a matchup where he should have all the time in the world, we like his chances of scampering enough in this one to have at least 24 rushing yards.
The Chiefs’ defense might not have been that inspiring to start the year, but it’s safe to say they’re back. They held Geno Smith under 100 yards last week, limited Jared Goff to 203 the week prior, and Trevor Lawrence to 221 the week before that. Marcus Mariota isn’t anywhere close to the caliber of the aforementioned quarterbacks, especially since he rarely starts, so we’re fading his passing total tonight. He might get over the 150-yard mark in garbage time, but we don’t think there’s any possible way he hits 195, which is why we’re taking the under here.
