Week 7 of the NFL season provided some exciting action and results, but it’s not done yet! Like it or not, the schedule-makers have had a field day with Monday Night Football doubleheaders, and that trend is going to continue tonight. There are two games on the slate, one between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions, the second, between the Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks.
We’re going to focus on the Buccaneers and Lions matchup in this one, a game that has a staggering over/under of 52.5 points. Oddsmakers expect this one to be a shootout, and as you’ll see below, we think that as well.
Let’s get into our top picks from this one, hoping to start the week with a sweep!
Baker Mayfield has been slinging the rock lately. He’s had 256+ passing yards in three straight games, including an epic 379-yard performance in an epic matchup with the Seahawks.
While we’re not projecting him to have that high of a ceiling in this one, hitting 247 yards shouldn’t be difficult. The Lions’ defense has been a lot leakier than Dan Campbell would like it to be, and Mayfield and his receivers should take full advantage, even with the possibility that Emeka Egbuka is sidelined with an injury.
Cade Otton has an exceptionally high ceiling tonight, especially if Egbuka is ruled out. His start to the season has been disappointing, especially for fantasy football managers, who were excited about his output last year.
While he was slow out of the gates, Otton has been a lot better lately, logging 4+ catches in his past two games. If Egbuka sits out, we’ll take this line all the way up to 6.5 catches, but if not, we’re still riding with Otton to have at least four in this one.
Jared Goff’s normal line in tonight’s contest doesn’t have quite enough juice for us, so we bumped it up by one touchdown. Goff has been a stud all season, already throwing for 14 touchdown passes, and we think he’s due for another monster performance in this game.
As we mentioned above, this should be a shootout, and Goff and the Lions love to throw the pill around the field in those situations. We wouldn’t be surprised if he had four or five touchdown passes in this one, so we’ll gladly take the over in this spot.
