The 1-0 Chargers travel to Vegas to take on the 1-0 Geno Smith-led Raiders in some Monday Night Football action. After a massive Week 1 victory in Brazil, look for the run game to become a focal point for this Chargers offense as they look to make it three straight victories against the Raiders.
Los Angeles impressed me last week in Brazil, looking like a much better team against the Kansas City Chiefs in a victory. With this new receiving trio of Keenan Allen, Quentin Johnston, and Ladd McConkey, alongside a running back core of Harris and Hampton, Justin Herbert doesn’t need to throw for 300 yards in order for this team to win.
They simply need to take care of the ball and let the incredible depth do the rest. A much more talented team than Vegas, give me Los Angeles to cover and dominate the ground game tonight.
Speaking of dominating the ground game, Omarion Hampton will have the chance to break out tonight against this Vegas squad that hasn’t seen this type of speed behind this offensive line yet this season.
Hampton was on the field for 80% of snaps last week and should lead the backfield again with his 15-20 touches, turning into what should become his first NFL touchdown this week.
QJ is a dominant receiver at times throughout the season, but still struggles with consistency. The Raiders' secondary controlled the game last week against Maye and the Patriots, and as an underrated unit, should cause problems again tonight.
As for Johnston, he only has four back-to-back 50+ yard games throughout his career and might sit on the back burners tonight in a run-heavy scheme orchestrated by Harbaugh. Expect more Hampton, McConkey, and Keenan Allen tonight in Vegas.
