It pains us to say it, but we’re fading Josh Allen in this one, at least as it relates to his passing yards. The Ravens have one of the best defensive units in the league, and they shut down Allen’s passing game in the playoffs last season, limiting him to just 127 yards.
The over/under is high in this game, the highest of any game on Week 1’s slate, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Allen is going to throw for 250+ yards, especially against the Ravens’ elite passing defense.
We think the Bills are going to get the running game going early in this one, trying desperately to run time off the clock and give Lamar Jackson as little time with the football in his hands as possible. Allen might throw for around 200 yards in this one, but 236 seems a bit steep, so we’re taking the under in this spot as a result.
The Ravens have something that most teams in the NFL are desperately seeking: two elite rushing options in their backfield. One of those is their quarterback, of course, but the other is Derrick Henry, who looked like a youthful RB last season, rushing for 1,921 yards and torching opposing defenses.
Similar to our analysis of Allen, we believe the Ravens are going to run the ball a lot in this one to limit opportunities for the Bills, and who better to get the bulk of that work than Henry?
He had 18 or more rushing attempts in 11 games last year, including the playoffs, so we expect more of the same from him in this one.
This could be one of Mark Andrews’ lowest reception totals of the entire season, and we wouldn’t be surprised. Even though he didn’t have his best year in 2024, Andrews has proven to be one of Jackson’s favorite targets throughout his career, a steady-handed pass-catcher, at least in the regular season.
The Ravens don’t have many strong options outside of Zay Flowers, so we anticipate a heavy workload from Andrews this season, especially in short-yardage situations and in the Red Zone. Andrews should easily clear the over in this one, hopefully reaching four catches by the end of the first half to make this a sweat-free cash.
