Thanksgiving football always delivers the most exciting matchups, and 2024 is looking like it’s no exception. With 3 big games on the schedule, here's a breakdown of our best predictions and prop picks for each.
We’re doing all of the dirty work so you can place your bets and enjoy some turkey and football this Thursday.
BettorsInsider Prediction: Lions -10 | Total Points: Under 48.5
The Lions enter this game riding a massive nine-game winning streak, and they’ve been stellar ATS this season at 9-2. Detroit’s offense ranks #2 in total yards, and their dual-threat ground attack, led by none other than the smoking-hot Jahmyr Gibbs, has been nearly unstoppable.
Gibbs, with 886 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns to his stat sheet, is an offensive engine. On top of that, Amon-Ra St. Brown continues to torch secondaries.
The Bears, meanwhile, have lost 5 straight and are struggling both offensively and defensively. They can’t seem to get it together. Quarterback struggles and injuries in their secondary put them at a major disadvantage heading into their Thanksgiving game. Although D'Andre Swift provides some offensive spark, Chicago will have a tough time keeping pace with Detroit and we just don’t see them pulling it off — not even on the spread.
Prop Bet: Jahmyr Gibbs anytime touchdown scorer (-150)
Gibbs has scored in 4 of his last 6 games and faces a Bears defense allowing 120+ rushing yards per game.
BettorsInsider Prediction: Cowboys -3.5 | Total Points: Over 37.5
The Cowboys finally snapped a losing streak last week, and this Thanksgiving matchup against the Giants gives them a great opportunity to build some momentum for the final stretch of the season.
New York’s offense, led by rookie QB Tommy DeVito, has been ineffective so far, scoring just 7 points in their last game. Defensively, the Giants rank near the bottom in most key metrics and this game won’t be the game where they finally get their act together. They’ll unquestionably allow Dallas' Cooper Rush and CeeDee Lamb to exploit mismatches.
Sure, Dallas has struggled at home, but this game is a perfect chance to reverse that trend against a New York team that’s 2-7-1 ATS in its last 10 games.
We expect Rush to lean on Lamb, who has been a consistent playmaker with 841 receiving yards this season.
Prop Bet: CeeDee Lamb over 70.5 receiving yards (-110)
Lamb has topped this number in 3 of his last 4 games and we think he’ll likely see a high volume of targets again here.
BettorsInsider Prediction: Packers -3 | Total Points: Over 47
The nightcap features two playoff hopefuls which makes this a great game to throw down some bets.
Green Bay enters as the more consistent team, having won 6 of their last 7. Jordan Love has played fairly efficient football, while Josh Jacobs has been an absolute workhorse in the ground game. When teams come in with both a ground game and an air game, it’s tough for opponents to build a plan against them.
On the flip side, the Dolphin's offense has been led by Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill, who will do what they can to try to take advantage of Green Bay’s secondary, which is good, but not dominant. However, Miami’s road inconsistency (2-3 on the season) gives the Packers the edge at what is going to be a freezing-cold Lambeau Field. Weather forecasts show a wind chill of 20°F!
Prop Bet: Josh Jacobs over 80.5 rushing yards (-115)
Jacobs has blown through this mark in 5 of his last 7 games and will undoubtedly be a focal point against Miami’s mediocre run defense.
There are 3 big games with tons of chances to make some money while downing some turkey. Here’s where we see these teams ending up for our predictions—
Detroit dominates: Bet on the Lions to cover the -10 spread as they continue their dominant run and the Bears won’t stop them.
Dallas steps up: Expect the Cowboys to handle the Giants easily, taking advantage of New York's woes and breaking their losing streak at home.
Green Bay edges out Miami: The Packers’ balanced offense gives them the upper hand on Thanksgiving night in the frozen tundra.
