Sunday Night Football will be a showdown between two of the NFC’s top contenders over the past 7 years. The Philadelphia Eagles will be landing in Los Angeles to take on the Rams at SoFi Stadium.
It is worth noting that the Rams have beaten the Eagles only ONCE in their last 8 games against the Eagles. Today we’ll cover the opening betting lines and give you some of the best bets for this exciting Sunday Night matchup.
It has been an interesting, yet successful year so far for the Eagles. The addition of Saquon Barkley from their division rivals, the New York Giants, has proved to be extremely worth it. Matching Saquon and their top-tier run game with AJ Brown and Davonta Smith has got this offense clicking.
On the defensive side of the ball, it has proved to be a great draft for the Eagles. 1st and 2nd round picks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean have spearheaded the newly revamped secondary in Philly. The emergence of Zack Baun, who ranks 5th in the league in tackles, has led this defense to new heights.
Some fans have complained about Coach Nick Sirianni, but all he has done in his tenure in Philly is win. Now, sitting at 8-2 and 1st in the NFC East, it looks like he will lead this team to another Playoff berth. Despite the difference in record, this game will not be an easy win.
The Rams are coming into this game as the winners of 4 out of their last 5 games. This can be accredited to their offensive weapons getting back on the field.
The Rams were missing both Puke Nacua and Cooper Kupp for weeks 3-7 and have begun to look like themselves since their return. Kyren Williams has also been great this season and Matt Stafford and Sean McVay have looked for new ways to get this offense rolling.
The defense hasn’t been spectacular, but they have shown flashes of being such a young group. Jared Verse is leading the odds to win the DROY and has been great so far. The Rams have also been effective in the turnover battle where they rank 9th.
This team is no joke, despite their record. The entire NFC West, besides the 6-4 Cardinals, sit at 5-5. A win in this game would be huge for their playoff hopes.
As I mentioned before, the Eagles have won 7 of the last 8 head-to-head matchups between these teams. The Eagles currently sit as the favorites at -2.5 on the road.
This game, as it sits right now, will have a lot of consequences on the NFC Playoff picture. The Eagles are looking to fight for the 1st Seed; however, they need to rely on the Lions and Vikings to fall off.
The Rams are now fighting for their playoff lives and they don’t have the easiest schedule coming up. A win at home this weekend would be a huge boost for their confidence.
Rams +3 -125 - This may be a bit of a risky play, but I think the Rams can pull this game out. The line is set at +2.5 as of now, but I think buying the half-point is worth it. The Rams are finally healthy and while the Eagles have been great, they haven’t dominated many good teams. If this young defense can stop the run, they have a chance to pull the upset at home.
Matthew Stafford over 1.5 TD +110 - Stafford hasn’t been amazing this year, but since the return of Kupp and Nacua he has surpassed 2+ TD passes in 3 out of 4 games. The Eagles’ young secondary has been good, but this experienced group may be a tough test for those young DBs.
Over 3.5 Total FGs Made +100 - Neither of these teams love to kick Field Goals, but with 2 solid defenses it may be a necessity. Jake Elliott and Joshua Karty will have to kick some FGs to win this game.
