Week 8 of the NFL season wraps up with an intriguing matchup between the Giants and the Steelers on Monday Night Football. Check out our betting preview below for all the pertinent info!
There has been a ton of line movement on this game, as oddsmakers opened up this point spread at Pittsburgh -4 on the look-ahead line. Lots of money poured in on the Steelers, so much so that the line actually touched -7 for a little bit. Some sharp buy-back on the G-Men brought the line back down to its current number of Steelers -6.
The point total has also seen quite a bit of action. The number opened at 39 points before being bet all the way down to the current price of 36.5. Pro bettors obviously liked the Under in this one at anything above the key number of 37.
Danny Dimes looked more like Danny Pennies in his last outing against the Philadelphia Eagles. He threw for just 99 yards before getting benched by head coach Brian Daboll. It'll be interesting to see how Jones responds to all of that adversity tonight on the big stage.
There's not a whole lot to like about this Giants offense. They rank next to last in points per game and just 30th in yards per play. That said, Malik Nabers should play a more pivotal role in the offense in this one. This will be his second game back since missing a few weeks because of a concussion.
Most of the G-Men's strengths are on the defensive side of the ball. New York leads the NFL in sack rate and 3rd down defense. Dexter Lawrence has been the main man along the defensive line, as he's already racked up 9 sacks this season!
Russell Wilson played fantastic in his Pittsburgh Steelers debut last week against the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football. The former Seattle Seahawk threw for 264 yards and 3 touchdowns in a route over the J-E-T-S! Can Wilson stay hot against this ferocious Giants pass rush?
Pittsburgh hasn't run the ball very well on a down-by-down basis this season, but they do rank 8th in rushing yards gained per game. Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren form a dangerous 1-2 punch from the running back position. George Pickens continues to be Pittsburgh's best receiving threat, and he should be even more dangerous with Wilson under center instead of Justin Fields.
The Steelers defense has struggled against the pass at times, but they've been stifling against the run. Pittsburgh ranks 3rd in yards per rush allowed. As you might expect, TJ Watt leads the squad with 4.5 sacks.
This one's ugly, but I'm rolling with the G-Men plus the points tonight. Everyone saw Pittsburgh smoke the Jets last week on Sunday Night Football. They also witnessed the Giants look pitiful against the Eagles.
Those two occurrences are giving us two points of value versus the look-ahead line of Giants +4. I'm expecting a big bounce-back performance from Danny Dimes and Malik Nabers in this one.
Pittsburgh is the much better team, but they typically don't do as well when they're favored by more than a field goal. Mike Tomlin is just 57-73 ATS when laying 3.5 points or more! Give me the G-Men and the points!
