After a slow start to his preseason, I’d expect Doug Pederson to successfully scheme his first-round draft pick open in this preseason finale against Atlanta.
With Trevor Lawrence starting this game out, Brian Thomas should be the focal point of at least one drive as his development is going to be crucial throughout this season and will be a reflection of how successful this offense unit becomes.
With Kirk as the WR1 and not a lot of competition behind him outside of Thomas and Gabe Davis, consistency will be key for the LSU rookie during this final tune-up game.
Another rookie wideout competing for the WR3 role, Jalen McMillan has nearly secured a starting spot behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and can officially slide into that role with an above-average preseason finale.
The Washington product was one of Michael Penix’s go-to targets over the last few seasons and could shape up to be a red-zone favorite for Baker Mayfield and the Bucs.
Against the fast-paced Miami offense, look for Tampa Bay to get an extra possession or two in the first half where McMillan catches a 1v1 ball to seal the deal.
The 49ers defense is deep and as for Raiders QB Carter Bradley, he won’t have a lot of talent to throw to by his side.
Bradley threw for just 56 yards on 13 attempts in his last game against Dallas and couldn’t get anything in rhythm with an offensive unit that not only lacks the talent, but depth to compete in these types of games.
Las Vegas is now 0-2 this preseason and is due to play at least two QBs in this game as Minshew looks to continue to grow his lead on the starting QB job while Aidan O’Connell also has his say in the QB race that Coach Pierce is closely monitoring. Even though Minshew is the Week 1 starter, expect this race to be ongoing throughout the season for LV.
The Bucs are looking to finish their preseason above .500 as they face the 2-0 Dolphins. Kyle Trask has put together a solid preseason campaign thus far, solidifying himself as the Bucs QB2 with a 144-yard performance against Cincy and another 108-yard day against the Jags.
While he hasn’t been able to connect for a TD in both of those games, I’m looking for a higher-scoring game against Miami today where Trask can utilize the Bucs' speedsters such as Bucky Irving and Trey Palmer to come up with some big gains.
Also, look for the running backs to get involved in the passing game for Trask as the Bucs have three RBs that can handle the rock after catching the ball in Rachaad White, Irving, and Sean Tucker.
