It’s Week 15 of the NFL season and we are looking into a one stat trend that has led to profitability. This week’s forecast is unique as we are highlighting a trend more than a full betting strategy. The trend we’re looking at is the Rushing Touchdowns Trend.

Throughout the course of the 2022 NFL season we’ve seen good rushing attacks consistently trending towards positive returns on investment in the betting space. This week, we simply looked at one key stat as an indication for success, rushing touchdowns. Using Alloy Pro, this research was streamlined to take just seconds.

What's the trend?

Just one stat. That’s it. Rushing touchdowns per game. We’re looking at strong rushing teams in the red zone that rely on powerful offensive line play to get into the end zone. We hypothesized that when traditional offenses can rely on the run game to get into the end zone they are more reliable to bet. This proved true over the last few seasons but especially this year.

What does the data show?

Unsurprisingly, this trend was profitable for underdogs. To date, underdogs are 111-91-6 (55%) ATS this season. For the Rushing Touchdowns Trend in 2022, heavy underdogs have won 66% of games (19-10 overall). This yields a return on investment of 25%.

Sometimes, a betting system can be intricate and complex. Other times, it can be based on recent trends that help craft a more informed decision. You can use this trend to augment an in-depth betting system or at face value.
