BoopProps Sunday NFL - Eagles vs. Cowboys - Heading back happily one more time to the Wentz Well

Sunday, 8:20 p.m., NBC

We hate to go back to the same old Eagles well week after week − and would really like to take a shot with (backup) tight end Richard Rodgers or (backup) wide receiver Travis Fulgham or (backup) running back Boston Scott (each of whom has put up decent numbers at times) – but there really is only one guy in green in whom we have any confidence of putting up stats worth cashing in on.

Carson Wentz.

The Eagles’ fifth-year (really?) quarterback has double-digit rushing yards in five consecutive games and has reached six in such streaks twice in his career. Considering that the Cowboys give up ground yards by the truckload (307, 89, 261 and 208 the last four weeks) and that the Birds’ QB has games of 65, 37 and 49 to his name this season, we thought we’d layer his rushing yardage (through FOXBet) and hope he breaks off a Daniel Jones-like 80-yarder at some point (although without the fall at the end, of course).

WilliamHill has the lowest rushing yards line for Wentz (Over 15.5) at the same odds (-115) that most of the other places we had for Over 18.5 and Over 19.5.

Don’t forget, Wentz’ five rushing touchdowns (through seven games) have been topped only four times by quarterbacks in Eagles history. With his main weapons sidelined for much of the year (DeSean Jackson, Miles Sanders, Zach Ertz, Dallas Goeddert), Wentz taken on some of the scoring duties himself, especially when the Birds have gotten close to the goal line. His TD runs have come from 1, 7, 11, 1 and 1 yards out.

So, we’ll have cash on his running another (or more) in, but also on throwing for some scores (all FOXBet also). He does, after all, have two passing TDs in four of the Eagles’ seven games, including the last three.

The only concern we have with big numbers is if the Eagles get a nice lead and the Cowboys are showing nothing that head coach Doug Pederson may put some bubblewrap around Wentz, stick him on the sideline and save him until after the bye week.

But, all in all, that would be a good problem to have.
