Monday Night Football: Mims looks at Texans vs Saints and Raiders vs Broncos

The Texans and Saints lead off the action. Here are the things to look at:

The Saints are favored by 6.5 and the over/under total is 52.5 on FanDuel.

New Orleans has 5 consecutive season opening losses.

The money line is Saints +280 and Texans +235.

A lean toward the Saints is what I see here. Saints appear to be evenly balanced on both sides of the ball. I took a glance at the prop action on Drew Brees. His passing yardage is listed at 285.5. There is value in the under at -118. There is not enough of a sample size between the team to quote the last 4 meetings. Those numbers are a better indicator when the teams are in the same division or conference.

The Raiders and Broncos play the late game of the opening night of MNF. Here are the key numbers:

Denver is -2.

The total for the under/over is 43.

They are 2-2 straight up in their last 4 meetings.

The money line is Denver -132 and Raiders + 116.

Oakland appears to be reeling before the season starts. Antonio Brown was waived and signed a 1-year deal with the Patriots. His antics will have a residual effect on the team. Denver will put pressure on Derrick Carr and make points a premium. Joe Flacco is on his last stand. This game has the feel of an under.
