We’ve officially made it to the College Football National Championship! It’s been a long, grueling season to this point, and if you asked people before the season started who would be in the big game, nobody could have guessed Indiana Vs. Miami.
That’s the matchup we are given, and we’re excited to watch this one go down, especially since Indiana has been awesome all year, and Miami has been a bit of an underdog that’s proven themselves to this point.
The Hoosiers are 7.5-point favorites, but will Miami make it close? We’ll soon find out. With that in mind, let’s get into our top player props from this one!
We’ve taken the over on Fernando Mendoza’s passing yardage line in his past two outings and have been let down by him going under his total. He’s been too efficient and dominant to stay in the game long enough to have 200+ passing yards, so we’re staying away from that this time.
With that said, Mendoza led the country in passing touchdowns during the regular season, and we think he’s going to put on a masterclass in this one that highlights what he’s done all year. He had five touchdowns against Oregon last week, and there’s a real chance that he’ll repeat that here.
Indiana has steamrolled everybody to this point on their quest to complete the first perfect season since Michigan did it in 2023. Their offense has been on fire more than anything, and they haven’t needed their defense to be special, necessarily, to get the job done.
With that in mind, Carson Beck should have plenty of opportunities on the other side of the ball to throw the ball plenty to keep his team in the game, which is why we’re riding with his over in this spot.
He had 268 yards against Ole Miss last week without any issues, and we’re hoping for similar results at the highest level. His collegiate experience to this point should serve him well, another big reason we’re riding with his over in this spot.
Malachi Toney might be a true freshman, but he doesn’t play like one. He was brilliant against Ole Miss, torching them for five receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown, a big reason why they were able to overtake them to make it to the National Championship.
If Beck is going to have a big game throwing the football, Toney should be a major recipient of those targets. We’re not overthinking this one too much, so we’re taking the over on his receiving yards line here. Look for the Beck-Toney connection to be strong from the opening kickoff.
