Is anyone else surprised that most teams in college football have already played three games? The season is off and running, and for those of us who like to cherish the games while they’re happening, the year is going just a bit too quickly for our liking.
This weekend’s slate of games should provide a lot of excitement and entertainment, which includes several matchups between ranked opponents.
After looking at the board and studying the props on Underdog’s board, we decided to dive into the contest between Illinois and Indiana. Let’s take a closer look at our favorite player props from this one!
Are we missing something here? Indiana has one of the best passing defenses in the country, allowing a staunch 139 passing yards per game, which is good for the 14th-best this season.
Luke Altmyer had an impressive performance two weeks ago against Duke, when he had nearly 300 passing yards. However, he’s been mostly pedestrian in his other two games, leaving a lot to be desired from the Illinois passing attack.
We’re fading him in this one, believing he’ll face a similar struggle that other QBs have against Indiana.
Kaden Feagin might not be the most efficient running back in the country, averaging 4.4 yards per carry, but Illinois has made it very clear that he is their bellcow back.
He’s already had 50 rushing attempts this year, putting up 222 yards, and we think he’s in for a similar workload this week. Additionally, Indiana is allowing over 150 rushing yards per game, presenting a great opportunity for Feagin to have another big performance. We’re riding with his rushing line until further notice.
Fernando Mendoza has had a few big games this season for Indiana, bringing them to a 3-0 record. One of his biggest strengths as a quarterback is his decision-making, which lends itself to few interceptions thrown.
He hasn’t had one yet this season, and we like that trend to continue against Illinois. The junior QB has a good head on his shoulders, and we’re riding with him to keep making good calls in this one.
