The College Football season is finally here! Week 0 was a great teaser last week, but now we’re diving into all of the action, which starts on Thursday night.

There are a ton of fantastic games on the slate this week, and we couldn’t possibly write about each of them. With that said, we’ve taken a look at Underdog’s prop offering from some of the best matchups, picking and choosing our favorites.

We’ll keep the week going with the best props in the battle between TCU and North Carolina. While neither of these teams is ranked, at least heading into the year, there will be plenty of attention on this game, considering it’s the only one on the Labor Day slate. We’re grateful that college football is back, so let’s get into our top props!

Josh Hoover UNDER 290.5 Passing Yards

We know that Josh Hoover had a lot of boom games last year, but this line seems far too high in the first game of the season, especially against a Bill Belichick-led defense.

Belichick was known for having strong defenses at the NFL level, and if his new team has a similar identity, Hoover and TCU could struggle to get much going on offense.

Achieving 291+ yards in the first game of the season is a tall task for anyone, regardless of their experience, so we’re fading Hoover’s passing line in this one, believing he’ll be shut down from the jump.

Gio Lopez UNDER 219.5 Passing Yards

Our analysis of Gio Lopez and running back Davion Gause go hand-in-hand, which you’ll shortly see. As we mentioned earlier, Belichick is going to completely change the makeup of this UNC team on both sides of the ball, and we could see the “Patriot Way” play out for the Tar Heels.

That will likely start with fewer passing opportunities for a player like Lopez and more rushing chances for a player like Gause. Belichick should be more conservative in his first game at UNC, and with that in mind, Lopez shouldn’t sniff his passing yardage total.

Davion Gause OVER 69.5 Rushing Yards

After Omarion Hampton left for the NFL, the Tar Heels had to pass the torch to a running back, and it appears that Gause is the guy they’re going with.

He had a strong performance in Week 1 of the 2024 campaign, putting up 105 yards. While he might not have a 100+ yard ceiling each week, he should have plenty of opportunities in this Belichick-led offense to have at least 70 rushing yards.

We expect that this will be one of Gause’s lowest totals of the season, so take the discount now while you still can.
