Happy Rose Bowl Day! Madwed picks Oregon vs Wisconsin — will Jonathan Taylor cross the 2,000-yard mark again?
(6) Oregon +3 over (8) Wisconsin, Rose Bowl, 5 PM EST
I think Oregon is being disrespected by being the underdog in this year's Rose Bowl. The Ducks have a complete team with NFL talent on both sides of the ball. Of course, Wisconsin has plenty of stellar players on their side. Both teams have defenses that rank in the top 10 in the country and offenses that have explosive potential. The key that gives Oregon a slight advantage is their strength against the rush, ranking 11th in the country in rush defense. Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor has had a monster year and will look to reach the 2,000-yard mark for the second consecutive year with 91 yards in the Rose Bowl. Two of Wisconsin’s three losses in 2019 were to an Ohio State team that didn’t lose until the College Football Playoff semi-final. Oregon suffered a heartbreaking last second loss in week 1 against Auburn and wouldn’t lose again until late November against Arizona State. Wisconsin had a similarly disheartening slip up against Illinois mid-season. I see Oregon covering the spread because they will be able to keep it close and have a great chance to win.
