NCAA Football Friday Bowls: Kern picks Wake Forest vs Michigan State, Oklahoma State vs Texas A&M, and Air Force vs Washington State

Coming off a 4-0 early start to the bowl season, let’s try to keep a good thing going today.

PINSTRIPE BOWL, 3:20 PM on ESPN

Wake Forest (+4) over Michigan State

Dave Clawson does one of the best coaching jobs anywhere. But he plays in the same division as Clemson and Florida State, so it goes largely unnoticed. His teams have won three straight bowl games. I think they can make it four, so you might even want to consider the money line. But I’ll take the points at Yankee Stadium against an MSU side that is OK but nothing special and might not even want to be there.

TEXAS BOWL, 6:45 PM on ESPN

Oklahoma State (+6.5) over Texas A&M

This one I’m not as whatever about, but I’ll throw it out there all the same. Just tread lightly. A&M is a really good team that played a brutal schedule, and this game is in Houston, which isn’t far away. But Okie State has won three straight bowls, and has a good covering record. The Cowboys also are going to be missing some players, so you never know how that might figure in. Which is the case in a lot of these postseason matchups anymore. This one is more of a hunch, not that they necessarily can win but that it’s enough points to get the job done.

CHEEZ-IT BOWL, 10:15 PM on ESPN

Air Force (-2.5) over Washington State

This is more of I have lost faith in Mike Leach as much as anything else. Again, I think AF might be a lot more excited about this game than the guys the Falcons are taking on. But it’s a feeling. Washington has more of a name, so to speak, but I really believe AF could just be the better team. So laying a little less than a field goal shouldn’t be too much to ask.

See you later with some more coll pix and the pro stuff.
