The Sweet Sixteen is already upon us! After a relatively boring first two rounds due to a lack of upsets, the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight should provide a bit more excitement.
There are several awesome matchups that we are looking forward to, and we’re committed to putting our favorite Underdog props together for as many games as possible.
The next game we’re breaking down is the battle between Arkansas and Texas Tech, in what should be a fantastic game until the final whistle. Here are our top props from the action!
We’re going to play the hits in this game, and we’d be remiss if we didn’t include props for JT Toppin in this game. Toppin has been excellent for Texas Tech all year, averaging 18.1 points per game and 9.3 rebounds, one of their most consistent players throughout the season.
He was relatively quiet in their first-round rout of UNC Wilmington, but he bounced back in a big way against Drake in the second round, amassing 25 points and 12 rebounds.
Texas Tech needs to rely on their star power if they’re going to take down an experienced team like Arkansas, so we anticipate that Toppin will have a big game and hopefully carry them to victory.
We were slightly surprised to see that Underdog is offering any sort of boost on this line for Trevon Brazile, considering he had 11 boards in Arkansas’ opening game with Kansas and 8 against St. John's in the second round.
Brazile will be needed to crash the glass whenever he can in this game, as Texas Tech can certainly shoot the ball at will. They do make a lot of their shots, but everybody has misses, and we expect Brazile to gobble up rebounds in the paint throughout this one.
He might not go off for 10+, but he shouldn’t have any difficulties achieving at least rebounds and going over this projection.
This game has the lowest projected total score of all the Sweet Sixteen games taking place on Thursday night, and for good reason. Both teams have strong defenses that will make it difficult to score, but we do still project a few players to have good games, including Elijah Hawkins.
He hasn’t necessarily been great from the floor, but he’s great at getting to the free-throw line, which helped elevate his totals in the first two rounds of the Tournament.
Achieving 11 points isn’t that difficult for a starter in a game that means so much, which is why we’re also taking the over on his point total, especially if he gets to the line a few times.
