O'Sullivan: The second day of the “First Four” kicks off with Bryant, who cruised to the Northeastern Conference Tournament Championship over Wagner (though it was hardly a cruise in the stands), going up against Wright State, winners of the Horizon League. Wright State had to come back from down 16 under 12 minutes to go in the final against Northern Kentucky. It was a nice comeback but still a warning sign for the Raiders, who now go up against a squad of Bulldogs who are 15-1 in their last 16 games, 14-2 against the spread. These two teams are virtually tied in the KenPom rankings, Wright State 182nd and Bryant 183rd, but the Bulldogs’ pace will give the Raiders issues in what should be a close shootout, so I’ll take the points.
Baller: Kind of a Committee screw-job to make Bryant play Dayton-based Wright St. in Dayton, but if someone didn't get screwed it wouldn't be a porn film or Selection Sunday. These teams are VERY even, and although neither are defensive juggernauts and both like to play fast, I'm just not feeling a 79-76 type final in a 16-seed play-in game. Wright St. has played 10 games against Top 200 teams this season and only one has gone over this number.
11 Notre Dame vs 11 Rutgers, 9:10 pm Eastern
O'Sullivan's Pick: Rutgers +1.5 (-109), bet $10.90 to win $10

O'Sullivan: Both teams lost in the quarterfinals of their respective conference tournaments to teams on the rise. However, while Rutgers looked strong against a dangerous Iowa team, falling late, Notre Dame looked ineffectual and never threatened in their game against Virginia Tech. The Scarlet Knights played in the Big 10, which was a much better conference than Notre Dame’s ACC, and have tough losses to tournament teams, including a close five-point loss to #3 seed Wisconsin. The Fighting Irish’s adjusted offense is in the top 30 in the nation but looked utterly out of sorts on Thursday night. I think Rutgers is used to playing high-powered offenses and will be able to handle Notre Dame. I also think they’re tougher.
Baller: I don't expect to say this too much throughout the tournament, but – What he said. Notre Dame should have more fans in Dayton. Rutgers should have more points.
