O'Sullivan's Friday ACC, Ivy College Basketball Picks: Notre Dame at Boston College, Coppin St. at Cornell
Both the ACC and Ivy League were off yesterday, which was just as well, as it gave my heart a day to recuperate from watching North Carolina State win in a quadruple-overtime game, after trailing by double-digits in the first half and making me question my life in disgust. After a day of allowing my blood pressure to subside, I’m ready to face the college ranks again…

ACC conference play begins tonight, with two teams I still have to remind myself are actually in the ACC facing off (I apologize in advance. I attended an ACC school back in the late '80s/early ’90s, and this will not be the last time I whine about this). Notre Dame has started off only 3-3 but their losses are against good teams. Boston College has also lost to good teams, but are 2-16 against Notre Dame in their last 18 games, including 1-7 at home. The Irish own the Golden Eagles…and don’t underestimate the lift all Notre Dame athletic teams will get from football coach Brian Kelly leaving in such a classless fashion. Something tells me the entire university will be on a mission for at least a few days...
Coppin State Bald Eagles at Cornell Big Red, 7 pm Eastern
The Pick: Cornell (-345), bet $10.34 to win $3
A big price to pay, I know. But I need to start chalking up some wins to get me back to sea level, so I’ll pay a little extra for just a straight win from Cornell, here. Coppin State is 1-10 while Cornell is 5-1, their one loss being a reasonable one to Penn State, a school from a power conference. So Cornell is shaping up to not be bad at all, while Coppin State has played a lot of games and doesn’t seem to be getting any better. A home win for the Big Red seems a reasonable ask.
