NCAAB: Rider heads to snowy Quinnipiac

Tonight’s line has jumped around but seems to have settled in as Rider minus 1

Rider (-1) at Quinnipiac, 7 p.m.
The Pick: Rider (-1)

Rider’s coaching staff, after four straight losses dropped the team from a comfortable lead in the MAAC to a game-and-half behind front-running Monmouth and in a scramble with four others, have hit the reset button. A loss here and it might be time to push the panic button.

Coach Kevin Baggett and his staff are trying to get the Broncs (12-12) back to where they were when they began the MAAC season 7-1. Tuesday night’s game in Connecticut might be a good place to start.

The Broncs beat the bad weather to the New England area and as the snow piles up on the Bobcat campus (school was closed, Tuesday) it could also take away some of the home-court advantage Quinnipiac (12-10) might have enjoyed.

Rider is a dreadful 6-18 against the spread this season and is 2-8 in their last 10 against the number. A lot of those were inflated numbers as Vegas overrated the Broncs after their fast start.

Tonight’s line has jumped around. It opened with the Bobcats as a one-point favorite, went to a pick, to Rider minus 2 and seems to have settled in as Rider minus 1.

Look for point guard Stevie Jordan (11.7 points, 4.2 assists) to have a big night and for shooting guard Jordan Allen (10.6 points) to regain his stroke as the Broncs end their losing streak in snowy Connecticut.

A good prop bet might be whether the Broncs can get back to New Jersey tonight, or have to wait until the morning. I’ll take wait till morning.
