The Pick: over 195.5 points (-110), bet $11 to win $10
Game 7. Exciting, full of drama. Hard to predict. So I’ll avoid picking a straight winner. I’ve had pretty good success with the over/under in this series, so I’ll stick with it here. I’ll take the over, a number which I think is overly anticipating a rock fight due to the nerves of a deciding game. It’s a reasonable theory, but I think the number’s just too low. Just two games in the previous six have gone under 195.5, and they were both blowouts. Tonight will not be a blowout. It may be defensive, but these teams know each other by now and I expect a tight game from the tip. Don’t forget about overtime – would anyone be surprised if 48 minutes isn’t enough tonight? Miami’s Jimmy Butler had an otherworldly game on Friday, Celtic Jayson Tatum has had very good games but no transcendent game – yet. I know that overs are tricky because the books rely on bettors subconsciously wanting to root for points. I’ve factored that in. I honestly believe overtime is in play here. Rooting for scoring, and a great game, is just a bonus.
