I just wish I could bet on the over/under “Number of times Philadelphia fans boo Ben Simmons.” Overrated ex-Sixer Simmons will not be playing tonight but will be in street clothes on the Nets’ bench. As a friend of mine asked, “Does Ben realize it’s not just a case of getting it over with (meaning the wrath of Sixer fans) by doing something (meaning showing up in Philadelphia) one time?” Given Simmons’ extraordinary lack of awareness throughout this whole ordeal, I’m guessing not only does he not realize that, but the next time he’s booed in Philly, he’ll find it incredibly unfair and will try to leave the Sixers again. “That has nothing to do with tonight’s game,” you’re saying? To which my response is, “What are you, new?” You think Joel Embiid doesn’t want to score eighty points tonight? You think James Harden doesn’t want to rub his new situation in Kyrie Irving’s face? Besides, Philadelphia is a better team right now: 8-2 in their last ten vs. the Nets’ 4-6, 7-0 as a favorite. And not for nothing, but Nets center LaMarcus Aldridge will be out tonight with a hip injury. Much like Simmons’ back, Aldridge’s hip is perhaps sensitive to Joel Embiid.
