This is just the second time in the four years he has been active that Joel Embiid is playing games coming out of the All-Star Break. He had already been shut down for the year in 2017 and tendinitis in his left knee acted up right after the 2019 ASG.

The other year in which he did play immediately after the break was 2018 and his point totals for his first five games back were: 30, 28, 25, 23 and 17. A clear downward trend.

He stormed back after this year’s All-Star Game with a 39-point performance at home against the Nets. Now, it is Saturday night Prime Time in Milwaukee, where two weeks ago he was held to 19 (6-for-26 from the floor). He will be looking to make up for that.

His previous four games against the Bucks – two of which were home – each yielded 30+ points. His 28-point career average against Milwaukee is second only to his 28.7 versus the Nets among Eastern Conference opponents.

All of this is a long way to get to the fact that his Over/Under of 23.5 points Saturday night is an insult to him, me and Prop Bettors everywhere.
