NBA: Warriors come out to play with the Spurs, Jazz face Wizards

Greg Frank is, once again, in disagreement with a Jazz line

Jazz (-6) @ WIZARDS (227.5)
Pick: Wizards +6 and Over 227.5

Yet again we are in disagreement with a Jazz line. It’s more of a coincidence than anything else at this point as we haven’t had much success fading the Jazz within the last seven days, but that won’t stop us from going back to the well. The Washington Wizards are trying to climb their way back into the playoff discussion in the East after 2018-19 looked to be lost in the nation’s capital. Entering play tonight, the Wizards are four games behind eighth-seeded Miami in the loss column. With less than a month to go in the regular season, it’s a steep hill to climb, but one the Wizards at least appear interested in attempting to climb. In addition to usurping Miami, Washington would have to jump Orlando and Charlotte to get in. Last week, the Wizards split a pair of games against the Magic and Hornets. At 8-2 ATS in their last 10, Washington surely isn’t playing like a team interested in the lottery. For the year, the Wizards have been a good bet at home covering 22 out of 34 games in the district so far. As for Utah, with its playoff spot all but locked up, we’re guessing the Jazz take their foot off the gas a little down the stretch. Despite three straight covers for Utah, the Jazz are still just 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games which is an indication this is a sell high spot on the Jazz. Washington is also a league best 42-27-1 to the over this season so we think there’s some correlation here. A Wizards cover likely means a lot of points so we like the game over the total as well.

Warriors (-2.5) @ SPURS (225.5)
Pick: Spurs +2.5

San Antonio is still one of the better home court advantages in the NBA. The Spurs have lost just seven games in the Alamo City this season and after winning eight of 10, San Antonio is inching closer to Oklahoma City and Portland in an attempt to secure home court advantage in the opening round of the playoffs. The Spurs would probably like to make a statement in this game against Golden State regardless, but now that they have a chance to get into the West’s top four, we’ll gladly take the points they’re getting here. Golden State remains a difficult team to handicap having blown out Oklahoma and Denver recently, lost close games to Houston and Phoenix and gotten blown out by Boston at the beginning of March. The Warriors have also had some injuries pop up and while Kevin Durant is expected to return tonight, DeMarcus Cousins and Andre Iguodala will not be in the lineup for the Warriors. The Spurs have been more consistent of late which is enough for us to back them as a short dog here.
