Since when do the Minnesota Timberwolves lay 12.5 points? This is the largest spread Minnesota has been favored in all season, which likely surprises no one, and the day I lay 12.5 points with a team below .500 is the day I stop handicapping. It goes without saying that Phoenix is one of the worst teams in the NBA. But that’s why this number got bet up from 9.5 to 12.5 and eventually you have to draw the line when it comes to the Timberwolves and think about buying back on the underdog. Minnesota has lost three out of four. Its lone win in that stretch was by four points at home over New Orleans, another team not in a playoff spot. One of those losses was at home against Dallas, who, you guessed it, does not currently occupy one of the eight playoff spots in the West. There was also a 42-point blowout loss handed to the Timberwolves by the Sixers last week. We just need Phoenix to avoid a blowout here, which it did on Friday in Toronto albeit with Kawhi Leonard resting. Regardless, we’ll take the points.
