What's good, MLB fans? I hope Monday treated you well. We had a tough night, as our picks went 3-4. Our MLB player props now sit at 141-112 for the season.
Our earned runs props did well, as they ended up going 2-1 with both Overs cashing quite easily. The problem came from the strikeout props department, as those finished up at 1-3 to put a damper on the evening. Overall, though, the K props are 14-6 since we brought them back last week.
Let's bounce back strong with our top player prop play in the Rockies vs. Astros game tonight! Best of luck, sports betting amigos.
Oddsmakers are making the Astros a sizable favorite in this matchup, as the opening line priced the team from H-Town as a -340 favorite at home. There hasn't been much action on the side so far, and the line now sits in the -324 to -345 range in favor of the Astros.
Judging by the run total, sportsbooks are expecting a low amount of scoring in this one. The number opened at 8 runs, with the juice on the Under in the -112 to -115 range. There's been no major line moves to report on the total as of Tuesday morning.
Colorado's offense showed some signs of life earlier this month, but they still struggle to generate runs. This is especially true when they play away from the launching pad known as Coors Field. The Rockies' roster has an expected batting average of just .172 against Houston starter Hunter Brown.
Even though Colorado's lineup is full of players that get no national attention, they still have three guys with a fair amount of pop. Mickey Moniak, Hunter Goodman, and Brenton Doyle all have expected slugging percentages above .457.
Young right-hander Tanner Gordon will get the ball for Colorado, and he's looked much better in his last two starts after a horrendous start to the month. It'll be interesting to see how he pitches tonight on the highway.
The Astros' bats have been a big disappointment this season against right-handers. Thankfully for Houston, stud starting pitchers like Hunter Brown have more than picked up the proverbial slack for the team.
Brown has one of the best K-rates in the league, mainly thanks to a lively fastball and a nasty curve. He also does a good job of getting ground balls when he needs to and limiting hard contact. The 26-year-old righty should be able to keep the Rockies' bats at bay tonight at home.
Monday's free MLB play got home for us, as Bryce Miller gave up 4 earned runs to cash our plus money earned runs prop. Let's get another W on Tuesday with our old buddy Hunter Brown of the Astros.
Brown has been incredibly consistent this season, as he's allowed 1 earned run or less in 15 of his 25 starts. That metric alone makes me like this play at plus money. He did allow 2 earned runs to Colorado earlier this season, but that outing was at Coors Field.
This start will be at home, where the Under is 7-4 for Brown this year. He's also in excellent current form, having stayed under this earned runs line in 4 of his last 5 starts. Let's get this Under, folks!
