Happy Hump Day, fellow sports bettors! Tuesday was an incredible night for us on the MLB side of things. We went 6-2 to run our record to 130-102 on player props this season. It was just one of those great days where everything seemed to break our way. Hopefully this is a sign for things to come!
Merrill Kelly and Carlos Rodon turned in solid performances for the Rangers and Yankees, respectively. We were able to cash both of our Under 2.5 earned runs props on those fine starters. The Mets also got the job done for us by scoring plenty of runs in the first 5 innings against the Nationals.
It's time to keep things in the green around these parts. Let's stay hot in a big way with a two player props for Wednesday, August 20. Best of luck, my friends. Let's put our Hump Day in the win column!
A's at MIN - 7:40 PM EDT
I'm going to keep riding this red-hot A's lineup until they show any semblance of cooling off. That doesn't look like it'll happen any time soon, especially after we saw how they treated Twins ace Joe Ryan last night. They don't get a lot of national attention, but A's youngsters Nick Kurtz, Tyler Soderstrom, Shea Langeliers, and Brent Rooker can all rake with the best of them.
Ober has been a human gas can lately. The Twins righty has allowed 3 earned runs or more in 7 of his last 8 starts, and although he has good numbers against this A's squad, I think he struggles tonight at home. He's given up 3 home runs to this A's roster in only 37 batters faced.
The swinging A's are 10th in WRC+ this season against righties. They're also 4th in that metric in the month of August. The A's have loads of power, and we think they'll put that on display once again on Wednesday night. Let's play the Over here, folks!
CIN at LAA - 9:38 PM EDT
This one's a little scary because of Kikuchi's current form. That being said, I'm not going to downgrade him too much for his last 2 starts against the red-hot A's and the Tigers (a team that destroys all LHP). Both of those starts were also on the road, where Kikuchi has struggled at times this year.
Kikuchi has a median earned runs number of just 2 this season, and he draws a fantastic matchup against a light-hitting Reds team. Cincy ranks just 25th against lefties this year and 24th in the month of August. No one in this Reds lineup is all that scary, outside of the young phenom Elly De La Cruz.
I also like that Kikuchi has been dominant at home this season, as he's 5-2 with a tiny ERA of 2.40 in his home park. He's also stayed under this earned runs number in 9 of his 13 starts at home. Let's play the Under with confidence here, folks.
Side Note: DraftKings is offering the Reds team total in the first 5 innings at -160 juice. That means we're getting quite a bit of value in this -110 number. Kikuchi does tend to work into the 6th inning, but a 40-cent difference is quite a hike.
