Happy Thursday, fellow sports betting folks! Hump Day was good for us on the MLB side of things. We went 5-0 to run our record to 82-65 on the season with player props. Both game totals got home, as the Pirates vs. Cardinals and Phillies vs. Padres stayed under their respective game totals.
Our three strikeout props came out at 3-0. Sonny Gray won by the hook over the Pirates, and Hunter Brown baffled plenty of Rockies hitters on his way to 8 Ks. Our first-ever earned runs prop also cashed on Yusei Kikuchi.
Let's stay hot on Thursday with 3 more player props. Enjoy the daytime baseball, and best of luck with all of your picks today!
HOU at COL - 3:10 PM EDT
We've made plenty of cash fading this AAA Rockies lineup, and there's no reason to stop that train until they prove me otherwise. Sure, I'm a bit worried about backing a guy like Walter, who is making his first start at the house of horrors known as Coors Field.
That being said, the Astros' lefty has good stuff, and he's gone over this total number of Ks in all five of his starts this season. Walter's K-rate is very good, but what's been even more impressive has been his chase rate (93rd percentile). That's mainly thanks to a cutter and a splitter that are pretty rough on opposing batters.
As we mentioned in yesterday's article, six Colorado hitters are striking out more than 25% of the time. That should equate to plenty of Ks for Walter, even though the plus money looks like a sucker bet. Give me the Over!
NYY at TOR - 7:07 PM EDT
Bassitt's strikeout numbers have leveled out a bit after he started out the season red-hot. The veteran righty has a K-rate that's just slightly better than the MLB average, but I love that he uses 8 different pitches to keep opposing hitters off balance.
The 36-year-old was only able to muster 5 Ks against the Yanks back in late April, but he's been a pretty solid strikeout guy at home this season. Bassitt has fanned 6 or more hitters in 7 of his 9 starts in Toronto.
New York is a scary team to fade, but they do have the 5th-lowest contact rate in baseball in 2025. They also have the 7th-highest strikeout rate overall. Six Yankee hitters strike out at least 24% of the time, so give me yet another Over.
LAA at ATL - 7:15 PM EDT
This one's scary because Soriano hasn't been all that great on the road this season from a strikeout's perspective. Even still, he's been on a nice roll lately by going over this number in three of his last four starts. Yes, I know he struggled to get much swing and miss in his last start, but that was against a low K-rate team in the Nationals.
Soriano gets a much easier matchup tonight against Atlanta, as they have 5 players in their lineup who strike out at least 22% of the time. The Braves have the 10th-highest K-rate in baseball this season against righties, and they've been fanning quite a bit lately.
Lastly, I love that Soriano has a nasty curveball that he uses around 26% of the time. The Bravos rank just 26th in baseball against that pitch. Give me another plus money Over to close out the Thursday card.
