Saturday’s Race Recap from Gulfstream:
(All odds US)
Race 2: 7th@ 9.70/1
Race 8: 2nd@ 7.80/1
Race 9: 6th@ 9.40/1
Race 11: 5th@ 3.80/1
In Race 2, Thornbury raced wide and didn’t threaten. In Race ,8 we had our chance at a score for the day – Breath Away raced wide and rallied strongly late to juuuussst miss at nearly 8/1. In Race 9, Napa Candy never contended and in Race 11, Ohana Honor raced between horses his entire trip never really having room checking in fifth.
We’ll close out the week with a Sunday Christmas Eve card at Gulfstream and try to get revenge for that nasty photo finish today. Fast and firm conditions are expected.
Race 10: Gossiper – 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 15/1)
Two-year-old maidens race a mile and a sixteenth on turf. Quick, what’s the first name you think of when I ask: “Can you name a filly or mare owned by George Krikorian, trained by Bill Mott who’s sired by English Channel?” – if you answered “War Like Goddess” – you’d be correct! It’s obviously too early to tell whether or not Gossiper has what it takes to be mentioned in the same breath as that great mare, but Mott is striking at 29% to start this Gulfstream Park meet and does damage here with debut runners on turf at prices. He enlists his main rider Junior Alvarado to ride this debut runner who sold for over 5x his sire’s stud fee. Dam has produced 3 winners from 6 foals to race according to DRF including stakes winner Karama, who put up an 82 speed figure in her turf debut. Would LOVE for her to show speed from the inside post and rock this field to sleep to close out our Christmas Eve card.
Best of luck to all our members playing Sunday’s races from Gulfstream Park!
