Friday’s Race Recap from Aqueduct:

(All odds US)

Aqueduct:

Race 2: 5th@ 4.30/1

Race 3: 5th@ 7.10/1

Race 6: 3rd@ 1.80/1

In Races 2 and 5, our charges didn’t give us much and in Race 6, Misintention was checked upon breaking from the gate then altered course while making her move turning for home ultimately finishing a tough-trip third.

We’ll remain at Aqueduct for Saturday’s races, where we’re expecting clear skies and a fast, main track. Let’s get started.

Aqueduct:

Race 4: Coppa Girl - 2 pts win (US Morning Line Odds: 7/5)

Allowance/optional claimers race a mile and an eighth on the main track. Coppa Girl is our favorite and deservingly so. Last time out off a layoff she finished second behind runaway winner Ain’t Broke, who returned to destroy an overmatched field earlier this week. Trainer Brad Cox is 27% with runners coming second off a layoff and this miss is well bred for the stretch-out.

Race 7: Best Bet - 2 pts win - BEST BET (US Morning Line Odds: 5/1)

Allowance runners sprint 6 1/2 furlongs and there’s some irony for me selecting a horse named “Best Bet” as my Best Bet but this runner has simply been facing better than he meets today. He also owns an abundance of early speed which is always an asset here at Aqueduct. The Brad Cox barn dropped this guy in for a high-priced maiden claiming tag last time out but today he turns up without a tag off a year and a half layoff. I like that confidence and like the fact that he’s got a strong foundation of works. Value at 5/1.

Race 8: Artemis Girl - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 9/2)

New York-bred two-year-olds sprint 7 furlongs. None of the runners with experience are very good and this is the type of field where the oxygen masks will deploy by the 1/8th pole and most of this field will be searching for a place to lay down. Artemis Girl - who won her debut effort at 50/1 won’t be one of those tiring late. As one of only two in this field to have raced further than 7 furlongs, Artemis Girl is dropping out from open stakes company to face these and should be moving best late.

Race 9: Palace Boss - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 20/1)

New York-bred runners race 7 furlongs and yeah, I’m hunting for a bomb here. Palace Boss races for Horacio de Paz who can pop with a longshot every so often and he’s got those five- furlong conditioning drills that I LOVE. His November 18 run buried in his workouts is pretty strong. This guy is a half to Castle Chaos who just missed first time out with a speed figure of 82 that would drown these. He’s also half to Jester’s Song who put a debut speed figure of 80 and Queens Masterpiece who won her debut at nearly 20/1. Bombs away!

Race 10: Kaymus - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 12/1)

Maiden two-year-olds bred in New York close out our day sprinting 6 furlongs. Kaymus debuts for the Flying P stables and Bruce Levine, who unveiled a first out winner on Friday’s card in Race 1. This one has actually been working faster than that one was. The dam just missed in her debut in a fast race and Isaac Castillo has been riding well for this barn.

Best of luck to all our members playing Saturday’s races from Aqueduct!
