God's Tipster's Sunday Saratoga Pick: The 8th is 7 furlongs for maidens with Chad Brown runner off a layoff

It’s always nice to start the day with a WIN as Risk It broke like a shot and never looked back in a sparkling debut effort. We only got 8/5 here in the US. I’m hoping a few of our European members locked in the 4/1 morning line odds. In Race 2, Walley World scratched. In Race 7, Gloria’s Princess battled for the early lead and faded in the drive. In the Grade 1 Alabama, Taxed didn’t get the speed duel I had hoped for and instead Randomized got a free pass on the front end, coasting to a convincing score while Taxed checked in fifth.

We’ll close out another week with what looks like it’ll be a sunny day at Saratoga. I’m handicapping for fast and firm conditions. Let’s get to it!

Saratoga:

Race 8: Digitize - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/2)

Maidens go seven furlongs here but instead of two-year-olds like we’ve had a few times today, these are three- and four-year-olds duking it out. I like the lone four-year-old in the group, Digitize, for the simple reason that his trainer Chad Brown’s numbers with runners like these are tough to top. With runners who are three years of age or older running in dirt races off a layoff he wins at a 32% clip. When you customize the parameters to include today’s seven furlong distance he’s a perfect two for two over the last five years with speed figures of 86 and 82. A number in that range should get the job done here and he’s already proven he can run that fast as he did just that in his most recent start.
