Saturday’s race recap from Gulfstream:

(All odds US)

Gulfstream Park:

Race 2: 2nd@ 2.40/1

Race 4: 4th@ 13.00/1

Race 6: 4th@ 6.90/1

Race 7: 4th@ 19.40/1

Race 8: 8th@ 4.30/1

Race 9: 3rd@ 8.10/1

Race 10: 1st@ 3.20/1 💥💥💥💥

Race 11: 6th@ 19.00/1

In Race 2, Case broke slowly on debut, found room on the risk entering the top of the stretch, was bumped in the stretch by fellow debuting winner Shesterkin and battled gamely for second. In Race 4, Passion Plus got a wide run on both turns and still came with a nice run at the end. With a better trip she would’ve been much closer at her 13/1 odds. In Race 6, Music City Star ranged up on the turn before flattening out. In Race 7, Phantom Vision had dead aim in the front runners but wasn’t able to quicken with the closers and finished fourth at long odds. In Race 8, Seal Beach was up closer to the early pace than he should’ve been and wilted in the drive. In Race 9, Street Ready didn’t get the early lead as we had hoped but he came with his run and out-finished the odds on favorite but was run down by City Man who got a rail skimming ride and had to settle for third. In the Harlan’s Holiday, Skippylongstocking stalked the pace, took the lead turning for home and turned back his challengers so after knocking on the door all day we got our first “W”. In Race 11, Sign of Peace set the early pace at long odds before being engulfed by the closing pack.

Saturday’s race recap from Aqueduct:

Aqueduct:

Race 6: RACING CANCELLED

Race 7: RACING CANCELLED

Race 8: RACING CANCELLED

Our selection for Race 6 was an early scratch but they cancelled racing after race 5 due to foggy conditions.

Happy New Year everyone! Let’s start the year on a positive note as we dive into some races from Gulfstream Park where we’re expecting fast and firm conditions beneath sunny skies. We’ll ring in the new year with some races for newly turned three year olds. Let’s get to work!

Sunday at Gulfstream Park:

Race 9: General Jim - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 4/1)

The Mucho Macho Man at a mile on the main track kicks off our road to the Florida Derby. Once again, there are plenty in here that couldn’t get the one mile distance if they were riding in back of a van. They’re sprinters and will be gasping by the time they hit 6 furlongs. General Jim isn’t one of those. Bred to be a long-winded runner, General Jim has already won two races on turf and ran well enough in his sole dirt start. Top connections won’t help the value but 4/1 or better are more than fair odds on this runner.

Best of luck to all our members playing Sunday’s races from Gulfstream Park!
