Thursday’s Race Recap from Belmont at Aqueduct:

(All odds US)

Replays for yesterday’s races from Belmont at Aqueduct can be found here:

Belmont at Aqueduct:

Race 1: 4th@ 34.25/1

Race 3: 2nd@ 7.10/1

In Race 1, marred by the break-down of River of No Return, longshot Reunion Tour was coaxed from the start but failed to make an impact finishing fourth at long odds. In Race 3, Cupid’s Girl sat the right trip off the speed and outran everyone but the favored winner finishing 2nd at 7/1 odds.

Let’s split our time between Belmont at Aqueduct and Keeneland for Friday’s races. We’re expecting sunny skies and once again at both racetracks. We’ve got some Graded stakes action at Keeneland as more stars prep for next month’s Breeder’s Cup. Let’s get to work!

Friday at Keeneland:

Race 9: Take Charge Briana - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 15/1)

The Grade 1 Alcibiades at 1 1/16th on the main track will be a major prep for the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Fillies and drew a full field of 14 runners. Four of those are coming out of the Grade 1 Spinaway at Saratoga and that race was a complete toss out for me. I wasn’t impressed with anyone in that spot and the winner of that race ran a very average third in last weekend’s Grade 1 Frizette at Aqueduct. Take Charge Briana had raced well in her first two starts finishing fourth on debut before running third behind subsequent Grade 1 winner, Chocolate Gelato. Most recently on September 4 at Saratoga she ran one of the most remarkable races of the meet. After stumbling at the start, she recovered, came wide and inhaled the field winning impressively and looking like a filly with a bright future. She won without much urging that day and that tells me the added distance won’t be a problem. Jockey Flavien Prat, who had been riding Kaling, who’s 6/1 on the morning line, has elected to ride our 15/1 shot selection. I’m not sure we’ll get 15/1 on her but if you can lock in those odds with your bookmaker they offer great value.

Best of luck to all our members playing Friday’s races from Belmont at Aqueduct & Keeneland!
