Race 6: 4th@ 3.30/1
Race 8: 2nd@ 3.15/1

In Race 3, Bobbie D made his debut. He checked a few times going into the first turn but had otherwise good positioning before flattening out in the lane to finish fifth. In Race 6, Occult made her debut and ranged up to threaten on the far turn before tiring late. In Race 8, Gianni Lambo raced well behind the speed and rallied late for second. In Race 11, Aleste checked early but had no excuse as she checked in 4th.
Saturday’s Race Recap from Churchill Downs:
(All odds US)
Replays for yesterday’s races from Churchill Downs can be found here:
Churchill Downs:
Race 6: 4th@ 2.30/1
Race 9: 4th@ 57.20/1
Race 11: 7th@ 14.40/1
In Race 6, Pro Oxident sat off the early pace, switched out in the drive as he came with his run and failed to change leads til it was too late and rallied belatedly for fourth. In Race 9, we had the right idea beating both heavy favorites who got caught in a speed duel. The problem was that Hayes Strike got stuck behind the tiring leaders and had to switch out too late settling for fourth. In Race 11, the trainer we had in Race 9 won (it’s been that kind of a day). Southlawn raced just off the pace early on but wasn’t able to quicken when the real running began and faded to seventh.
We got our asses handed to us today. Opening weekend at two tracks left us bruised but not beaten.
We’ll close out the week with more racing from Belmont at Aqueduct. Fast and firm conditions are expected once again.
Sunday at Belmont at Aqueduct:
Race 3: Rosia Bay - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 6/1)
Maiden fillies race a mile on the inner turf. Super-trainer Chad Brown has our two morning line favorites here but I’m looking to upset the apple cart with Chad’s old assistant trainer, Cherie DeVaux, who trains Rosia Bay. From a speed figure standpoint the Brown trained runners don’t lay over the field. Rosia Bay has been off since June and adds blinkers for the first time today. DeVaux wins with 20% of runners returning from similar layoffs and while a fourth place finish and a fifth place finish may not look ultra impressive on paper, she ran fourth behind three next out winners in her debut. In her second start she finished fifth behind subsequent Stakes placed runner Contemporary Art and actually had the fastest final 1/8th of a mile in that race. Interesting at 6/1 or better.
Best of luck to everyone playing Sunday’s races from Belmont at Aqueduct!
