Race 1 - $50K Maiden Optional Claimers

For my horizontal ticket, I am hitting the all button because you can make a case both pro and con for all of these. If I were forced to choose one it would be a hunch play on Saffie’s colt 5-Unsociable (9/2). The reason is, I cannot recall a time when I have seen a trainer debut his horse for a tag, only to run back to a maiden optional and protect them. Today he gets an upgrade in jockey to Tyler Gaffalione, so there must be more under the hood.

My longshot of the day is 1-Berhanu (20/1) who looks like a new horse on synthetic. Whether he can keep up with this group will be interesting. My bet for this today will be 2-Reservenotattainead (2/1) with Luis in the irons and trainer Jose D’Angelo 30% off the claim. Look for this Shanghai Bobby gelding returning to his form of last spring where he scored 100+ Equibase figures consistently.
Race 3 - $25K Maiden Claimers
3yo fillies going 5.5 furlongs on synthetic
A good spot to single 6-Stormy Stella (2/1), another Jose D’Angelo (30%) first off the claim. The Twirling Candy filly gets a new jockey in Junior Alvarado and her first two races were above this level. 1st time Lasix is a plus. With the difference of $20, 1-Pronta (9/5) can be added. By More Than Ready, she takes a step down in money class, yet a pickup in Equibase class rating. She was bought for $10K in September, raced in late November and took the lead in the stretch, only to lose by a head in a game effort. The connections picked up $7.6K for that, so, given her breeding, More Than Ready/Third Chance (19/10-2-2 for $481K) by broodmare sire and black type winner Kafwain, she will likely be claimed; making this a small win for the investors.
