Pimlico Racetrack a Broken Down Nag, Preakness May Move

The historic tracks needs a $424 million renovation

Pimlico Racetrack is in such bad shape, the track will need a major overhaul - torn down and rebuilt - if it wants to continue to safely host the second jewel of racing’s Triple Crown, the Preakness.

Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh supports the plan to spend $424 million to save the racetrack, its jobs and Baltimore’s biggest single sporting event, as part of a major neighborhood redevelopment.
